"Web seminars" or webinars (Web conferences) are live events that are conducted by Web from individual desktops or wired meeting rooms (for clustered co-located groups in various locations).

Some Functionalities

Various technologies support the sharing of visuals and multimedia, live voice and audio, live video, and live text chat. These technologies also support the remote access and sharing of desktops of participants (who have to allow for that sharing).

Some Live Examples

Principal investigators on various grant-funded projects may meet through Web conferencing to collaborate and make decisions. Cumulative projects may be critiqued by experts-in-the-field through Web conferencing. Demos and presentations of new software, resources or techniques may also be demonstrated through webinars. Synchronous online course sessions are also enabled through webinars.

Some presenters use webinars to conduct live hands-on workshops where the members participate by co-creating works or creating works independently and then sharing these objects.
