The Last Lecture Background
Randy Pausch, Professor of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon, was diagnosed in August, 2008 with terminal cancer. In September, 2008 he delivered his "last lecture." An inspirational, thought-provoking talk, his points for how he learned to teach his students so effectively, get phenomenal results from them, and what he learned from them and his colleagues in return, can be applied in one's daily life just as easily as they can to an educational setting.
The Last Lecture - The Book
A book entitled "The Last Lecture," written by Randy Pausch and Jeffrey Zaslow, was published in April, 2008. Expanding on his presentation in the "Journeys Lecture Series" (formerly known as the "Last Lecture Series") given in September, 2008 at Carnegie Mellon, the book provides insights into Randy's positive way of dealing with his illness and what he learned and passed on to his students, his colleagues, and his friends and family about teaching, learning, and living one’s life to the fullest. The audio CD is especially enjoyable: funny, touching, moving -- the reader made me cry and then laugh out loud.
