Intro
Survey Monkey is a web-based start-up that was begun in 1999 in Portland, Oregon. The company provides users with the ability to create web-based surveys that can be distributed to subjects all across the globe to help gather data regarding about anything an individual or company may desire.
Design Features
Survey Monkey allows one to select from over twenty types of questions and fifty survey templates to generate the most relevant responses desired. Their surveys support virtually any language, and custom themes can accommodate any potential subject-base. Validation requirements allow the user to put restrictions on the responses to avoid incomplete surveys, and randomization helps eliminate order bias amongst responses.
Collection Features
Surveys can be accessed by respondents by the simple click of a link to the user’s website. Tools are provided to allow users to set restrictions on response counts, cutoff dates, and even privacy by requiring a password if so desired. One can even configure surveys so that they can be accessed in shared environments, meaning multiple surveys from the same computer can be allowed. Pop-ups can also be used to advertise your survey, while also allowing visitors to opt-out very easily to minimize annoyance.
Analysis Features
Survey Monkey allows the user to view their results in real-time, as live graphs and charts are instantly updated as responses are collected. One can also choose to share these live results with the outside world by easily publishing them in real-time. Users can even download their results with one click to a spreadsheet or other multimedia for simple statistical analysis.
